Harsh environment, piss-poor pads = potential disaster

11/21/2019: We will be operating in an extremely cold weather environment.  With the cold weather,  the current pads are very hard, when it gets cold it is almost impossible to get the helmet to fit correctly. My Marines are taking pads out to get the helmet to seat properly on their head.  This greatly degrades the safety of the helmet once those pads are removed, and putting Marines at risk.  My men take them out at the first opportunity and try to avoid wearing them if at all possible.  Our operational area will constantly change during our deployment, I want to ensure that all of my men have the best gear possible to mitigate those safety concerns at all cost.  Thanks for everything, we do greatly appreciate the support for this.
